Valentine’s Themed Preschool Activities

I do get a small commission for all links clicked on in this post, at no additional charge to you. My family thanks you for your continued support.

Here are a few of the Valentine’s Themed preschool activities that we have on repeat throughout the month of February.

Sensory Bin– We always have a themed sensory bin and bottle with our monthly themes, because it allows my boys to get sensory needs met while I talk through the items we are learning about that month, instead of sitting behind a desk. Below you see me working on rhyming words with Vincent.

Typically I allow him to play in the sensory bin however he feels he needs for the day and then say, “Pause. Now its time to match our hearts. Can you find the rhyming word for….” Sometimes, this has to be said more than once, but typically he will pause, make eye contact with me and then continue with the task.

Below are some of our sensory bins MUST HAVES. We keep these in a separate place and get them out, regardless of the sensory bin we are using.

Pretend Play Center– I typically like to change out our pretend play center each month to match whatever theme we are working on. Because, of Valentine’s day we decided to create a Valentine shop, where we can work on counting money and carrying a conversation through play as buyer and seller at the store.

If you want to do know how we set this store up from start to finish, check out our Valentine Shop Pretend Play Center post here. You can also check us out on Tiktok @asdmama1017 to see the store in action!

Speech Activities– One of my favorite activities that we put together this month, was this speech activity. Vincent has been struggling with his pronouns, so we created this low prep activity to help him work through this.

All you need is some hearts or $1 for my printable and some boy/girl figures that can be used during the activity.

Above are all the supplies that you will need.

Sit the child at the table with the figure of your choice (in this case the boy) and two hearts. “He is on the table” and “She is on the table.” Ask the child, “Is this a boy or girl?” When they answer correctly, then state, “Which heart matches what the boy is doing?”

If needed, help the child choose “He is on the table” and push it forward. Continue on to the female version.

At this point, you will switch out the boy figure and replace it with the female figure. Now repeat all of the above statements, but with the girl figure.

If the child easily masters this, you could first, place the heart on the table that states “she is on the table” and ask the child to find the person that matches the statement.

This is similar as above, but with her/him instead of she/he, because of this for these sentences you will need a pencil.

Repat the process as listed above until the child has these four sentences mastered.

Below is an example of the download that I have available through the my Esty store for $0.99. Click here OR on the picture below to get to my Etsy store link for purchase.

Math Activity– The last Valentine’s activity that we have put together is titled Raining Hearts. It is a number identification activity for preschool and below.

To use one must simply purchase this download, print x2 copies, laminate and cut out the hearts of one sheet.

After cutting out the hearts of one sheet, one must use either Velcro dots or Tack it on the back to allow for easy adhesive. Personally, I have began using Tack it recently for a cheaper alternative and LOVE it! Check out my tiktok @asdmama1017 on Raining Hearts to see how to use it properly!

Below is a link to tack it- this allows for easy adhesive for ANY file folder activity!
