Today we continued our ABAless journey! Instead we use the time we had therapy to play together, learn in a fun environment and take care of chores around the house!
In the four hours I WOULD have had therapy with the boys, we were able to finish some Christmas activities, learn how to do dishes and work the microwave AND most importantly, be together.
So what does a morning with no therapy look like?
0730- Wake up and get dressed. Instead of rushing through this to sprint downstairs before our therapist got there at 8, we now get to take our time. Take a few extra minutes to practice pulling up our pants and putting on our shirts. Both things we cannot do independently yet.
0800- breakfast. Vincent doesn’t eat food, still just pediatric shakes. So I am working on getting him interested with food! Instead of jumping right into therapy I now have him help me cook! (We freeze waffles in bulk for a quick breakfast) Today Vincent helped me grab the cold waffle (huge for a kid with sensory aversion) place it on a plate, and then put in the microwave and turn it on. While his brother’s waffle was warming up we cracked some eggs for scrambled eggs.
0800-Clean up! Vincent puts away the silverware while Maxwell plays in the soap water (his version of “helping.” Regardless, the kids being active in the kitchen while they see me cleaning is a plus for me!
0900- Preschool activities! We change our calendar everyday. Here we review the day of the week, month, date, year, season and weather.

To create these we just laminated some construction paper and bought matching colored circles at the dollar store in the yard sale section!

1030- Snack time break!
Back to the play room for another snowball fight after snack! The boys new favorite pass time! First time Maxwell has ever interacted with me! Small stepping stones always mamas.

1100- I turn on a leapfrog show for the kids and get an hour of cleaning done before we head off to school.
And that’s our therapy free morning! Still fun, learning and activities of daily living. We are so thrilled to make the switch!
ALWAYS do what’s best for YOUR family. This seems to be working for us ❤️💛💙

What a great morning
