Are you homeschooling your children? Do you want them to get every opportunity that they would have had if they were attending public school? I did. So with that thought in mind, I decided that my children didn’t need to miss out on the Valentine’s party that they have at school. You know the valentine exchange, sugar and crafting?? I used to love it! So I decided this would be our socialization this month!
To Create the Perfect At Home Preschool Party:
- The Cliche Valentine Exchange- The kids lined their Valentine Boxes on the couch in the living room and we did the gift exchange in their like we would at school!
- When planning food always think- Toddler Friendly! We tried to pick finger foods that were toddler friendly! Pizza, bagel bites, cookies, fruit, granola bars, popcorn. Basically, if it’s in your mommy bag on a long trip, it should be on the table! Juice boxes are our go to drink during toddler parties, easy clean up!
- Valentine Crafts- We found several crafts at the dollar store, find more details on this below.
- Valentine Pretend Play Areas- This year for our Valentine Pretend Play area we chose to create a Valentine Shop. See our full post here to see how we set this up in our school room.
- Invite your FRIENDS!

For valentines, we handed out the bag above. The handout is available for less than for $1 through this download. We put this download on front of party bags and filled the bags with baking soda and sprinkles so that the children can have an easy go to science experiment when they get home!

In the playroom, we set up our crafts, decorated with my favorite dollar store balloons of course. If you click the picture above and it will take you to a link for a valentine crafting kit, just buy these supplies and set out the items organized like listed in the pictures below.

Construction paper and stickers are a must have go to with ANY toddler party. They worked particularly good for our Valentine’s party however, so that we could create valentine’s for each other!

We also like to have fun with play dough in this house! Simply place out different color playdough (I chose Valentine colors) pipe cleaners, tongue depressors, cookie cutters and pom poms. The kids can get as creative as they want with all of these supplies. They can “bake cookies,” or create a Valentine monster!

We organize our crafts and any playdough during any party with our Melissa and Doug wooden puzzle boxes. When we reorganized the playroom, we took all of the puzzles and placed them into gallon Ziplock bags to decrease the need for extra space. However, these crates were just too cute to throw out! So, we placed them in our teacher cabinet to be used at a later date and now we use them to organize our crafts a little closer.

Finally, every preschool party should have an area for pretend play for growing minds. This month we decided to create our Valentine Shop. Our Valentine shop has everything that you would want to buy for your Valentine; bags, cards, chocolate and flowers! Read more about our Valentine Shop in this post.
